I know what you’re thinking: 30+ degrees and the sun is hitting your body as if it hates you, and the only thought in my scorched mind is me at the beach with an iced cold drink in hand, big sunglasses on my face and the meanest SPF all over my body

Well.. if it happens to be one of those days where you’re not even close to my idea of paradise, here’s an idea you can use to at least quench your thirst while looking like the coolest gal in town while you’re at it.

Let me introduce you to… Lavender lemonade!

Fun fact: the word lavender comes from the ancient French word “lavandre” and from the Latin “lavare”, which means “to wash”. Another theory says it derivates from the Latin “livere” which means “blue”.

Originally found in the Mediterranean region and the north of Africa, this beautiful flower is typically associated to perfumes or body lotions, but the truth is that its benefits go way beyond that!

After our brief history lesson, let’s get cracking, shall we?

so…

What will you need for your lemonade?

  • 2 Tablespoons of Dry Lavender
  • ½ Cup of Sugar
  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • 4½ Cups of Water

Here’s what you do:

In a medium-sized pot mix 2 1/2 cups of water with sugar and lavender.

Heat it up until it starts boiling and at this point reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Take it out the heat and let it sit for an hour.

Sieve the mixture and store the liquid in a large jar.

Add the lemon juice, additional water, and mix well.

Leave it in the fridge until it is cold and .. there-you-go!

If you are feeling extra fancy (or if it is extra hot outside) you can serve your delicious lemonade with a small lavander twig and extra ice cubes.

Until next time and remember.. always choose adventure 😉
