Have you ever dreamt of visiting the lavender fields of Provence? Now imagine the proposal of a lifetime: a lovely couple amid that beautiful backdrop with a magical sunset and string quartet. *Read on to hear more of this dreamy proposal story*

When Sam’s world collided with Lu’s in 2005, he knew he had met someone that would change his life forever. But as fate would have it, they wouldn’t meet again until years later when mutual friends brought them together.

Initially, they kept their romance a secret while Sam tried to win Lu over in any way he could. From romantic dates to adventurous trips, nothing was off-limits to secure his love. And a decade after they met, Sam and Lu finally made it official with a romantic picnic on June 8th, 2014, in Central Park.

For many years, Sam has known of Lu’s dream to travel to the south of France to experience the beautiful lavender fields. So when he began to plan the proposal, he knew just the place to take Lu.

To make the proposal even more magical, Sam knew a string quartet was essential. Placing a string quartet in the lavender fields is no discreet task. But we knew we had to make his dream come to life while still maintaining the surprise of the proposal.

To keep the surprise alive, we had Cyril, my husband, and partner, post up with the quartet, pretending to take pictures of the quartet while I pretended to take pictures of the beautiful couple as “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri was played in the background.

When we reached the area where the string quartet had been placed, Lu noticed the group of musicians playing in the lavender fields with surprise. Per the plan, I asked my colleague Cyril if I could take pictures of my couple with his string quartet.

Everyone happily agreed, so I placed Sam and Lu in their spots and secretly cued Sam and the quartet for the surprise. As the string quartet began to play Sam and Lu’s song, “All of Me” by John Legend, Sam bent down on one knee. Lu’s face lit up with surprise. Tears of joy fell from her face as she said yes to the man who had changed her life forever.

(yeap, this is me during the magical moment)

Even though I have witnessed many beautiful love stories, this one has won a very special place in my heart. So here’s to Sam and Lu and their many, many years of happiness to come.

I captured this breathtaking proposal for Flytographer.
